The Old Railway Bridge Skywalk, located at the border of Kaohsiung and Pingtung, is a Kaohsiung attraction that combines natural scenery with historical culture. Converted from an old railway built in 1913, the walkway has become a popular spot for photography and relaxation. Historical background of the old iron bridge<\/h2>\n

The old railway bridge, originally named the Xiadanshui River Railway Bridge Monorail, was designed by a Japanese engineer and built in 1913, boasting a long history. The abutments were constructed using concrete, exposed bricks, and granite, while the piers were made of red bricks and granite. It was once the longest railway bridge in Asia. Spanning the Gaoping River and connecting Kaohsiung and Pingtung, this bridge was a vital transportation artery at the time.<\/p>\n

With the development of transportation, the old railway bridge gradually faded from history. In 2014, the city government restored and revitalized the bridge, transforming it into a skywalk while preserving all original components. The Old Iron Bridge Skywalk is 307 meters long and 8 meters wide, paved with steel plates and featuring viewing platforms, allowing visitors to stroll high above and enjoy the lush greenery and natural beauty of the Gaopingxi Wetland. The scenery here is breathtaking, especially at dusk when the walkway is particularly enchanting.<\/p>\n

The trail is located in the Old Iron Bridge Wetland Ecological Park, which covers an area of 300 hectares and features waterfront trails, riverside bike paths, and natural ecological areas. It is home to more than 100 species of wild animals and aquatic plants, making it an ideal place for family recreation and nature exploration.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
