Day 2: Islas Ballestas and Huacachina Oasis
Depart from Lima for Paracas and board a boat to the Ballestas Islands. En route, witness the mysterious Candelabra Geoglyph carved into the coastal hillside. Depart from Cusco early in the morning, passing through traditional Andean villages. After breakfast, begin a trekking journey of approximately 1.5 hours. Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) stands at an altitude of 5,200 meters; its vibrant stripes of red, green, yellow, and purple—formed by various mineral deposits, make it one of the world's most unique natural wonders.
Once hidden under permanent snow and ice, the mountain's colors have only recently been revealed as glaciers receded due to global climate change. Along the ascent, you can enjoy views of roaming alpacas, vast wilderness, and majestic snow-capped peaks.
