🛂 Fast Track with Visit Japan Web
We highly recommend completing your immigration and customs declarations online via Visit Japan Web (VJW) before departure. Take a screenshot of the QR code on your phone for a speedy customs clearance at the airport—no more queuing to fill out paper forms!
💴 E-Payments vs. Cash
Although many malls and convenience stores in Japan accept Apple Pay (Suica) or credit cards, cash is still essential when visiting traditional markets, shrines, or taking rural buses! We recommend having enough Japanese Yen in small denominations on hand
♨️ Basic Onsen Etiquette
You must wash and rinse your body thoroughly before entering an onsen pool. Towels must never be placed in the water (usually placed on your head or by the edge). Additionally, most traditional public baths refuse entry to guests with tattoos. If you have tattoos, we suggest booking a room with a private open-air bath.
🗑️ Very Few Public Trash Cans
There are very few trash cans on the streets of Japan, except outside convenience stores or next to vending machines (which only accept empty bottles/cans). We recommend carrying a small plastic bag to hold your trash and disposing of it back at your hotel. And remember to sort your waste properly!
🔌 Prepare a Type A Power Adapter
The voltage in Japan is 100V, and the plugs are "two flat pins" (Type A). Hong Kong's three-pin plugs won't work, so remember to bring an adapter. If your electronics do not support 100-240V global voltage, you will also need a transformer.
🚗 Avoid Crowded Trains with Private Charters
Japan's commuter trains during rush hour are notoriously packed. If you are traveling with the elderly or young children, we strongly recommend choosing our exclusive private charter service. Travel comfortably point-to-point straight to your destinations and save your energy for having fun!
