During peak season, you need to book your palace tickets about three months in advance; missing it means you've never been to Granada.
First, see what you want to play.
If you want to visit Madrid, Barcelona, Andalusia, Lisbon, and Porto all in one trip, prioritize 12- to 15-day itineraries; if you have less time, focus on two core cities first, and then decide whether to add the south or Portugal.
For Alhambra during peak season, it's recommended to book Palace tickets about three months in advance; tickets for Sagrada Familia and the Royal Palace also need to be booked in advance. For ZTL restricted areas within the city, we will use licensed drivers and guides to handle it, so you don't need to estimate it yourself.

Small group tours are arranged by Travel Mama according to the number of participants, including local licensed guides, hotels, intercity transportation, and key tickets. This is suitable for families who want an in-depth travel experience and don't want to figure out routes or scramble for tickets themselves. Independent travel involves booking flights and hotels independently, suitable for travelers familiar with the routes and who want to control their own pace. There are ZTL restricted zones in Spanish and Portuguese cities, so extra caution is needed when driving or renting a car.
For peak season at the Alhambra Palace in Granada, it's recommended to book Nasrid Palaces tickets about three months in advance, as popular dates tend to sell out even earlier. We'll include tickets in our itinerary according to the month of departure to avoid arriving only to find that Nasrid Palaces tickets are sold out.
Flamenco originated in Andalusia, southern Spain, and is characterized by guitar, clapping, singing, and dance. It's most commonly found in Seville and Granada. Fado is a singing tradition from Lisbon and Porto, Portugal, with a more reserved atmosphere and often performed in pubs. The two are not the same type of performance.
For a dual-country tour, we recommend at least 12–15 days. Our custom itineraries are flexible, ensuring you have ample time to wander through Lisbon and Porto, with the pace adjusted perfectly to your preferred duration.
Note before departure
During peak season, it is recommended to book palace time slots about three months in advance. Popular dates will sell out even earlier, so don't assume you can buy tickets later.
Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisbon's old town all have restricted areas. Driving yourself can easily lead to accidental violations and fines; small tour groups typically use licensed drivers familiar with the routes.
Besides the Alhambra, it is also recommended to book time slots in advance for Barcelona's Sagrada Familia and the Royal Palace of Madrid during peak season to avoid long queues and spending half a day eating out.
Flamenco is in Andalusia; Fado is in Lisbon and Porto. The atmosphere of the two venues is different, so the itineraries should not be treated as the same.
Some shops in southern Spain and Portugal close at midday. Important tickets and museums should be purchased during their opening hours; don't assume they're open all day like in Hong Kong.
Tipping at restaurants and with tour guides isn't as rigid as in Hong Kong, but leaving a small tip for a private guide's full-day service is considered respectful.
