Traveling through the cracks of time: A tour of southern Taiwan
四草綠色隧道導遊船

A trip to southern Taiwan sometimes feels like a meticulously planned dream. In this dream, filled with curiosity about the unknown, I boarded an early morning flight to Kaohsiung. The clouds outside the window resembled ocean waves, the plane was like a ship navigating between them, and I was a traveler about to embark on an unknown journey.

This trip was a small group tour carefully planned by Travel Mama, with the aim of allowing travelers to experience the culture and natural beauty of Tainan and Kaohsiung in a more private environment.

Day 1: The Historical Imprint of Kaohsiung

Upon arriving in Kaohsiung, my first stop was the Southern Taiwan Science Park Archaeological Museum of the National Museum of Prehistory. There, the exhibits, like messengers from afar, whispered ancient stories. Everyone has an ancient well within their heart. Standing before these ancient relics, I felt as if I could touch that boundary.

In the afternoon, I strolled along Guohua Street and Shennong Old Street. These streets have a different pace from modern times; the shops sell old objects, each carrying memories of the past. Here, time seems to have deliberately slowed down, allowing passersby to find a moment of peace amidst the hustle and bustle.

In the evening, I sampled local snacks in Tainan. Food is not only a treat for the taste buds, but also a cultural experience. After a day's itinerary, I checked into the Tainan Harmony Hotel West Gate Branch, where every brick and tile seemed to whisper, telling the story of the city's past and present.

Day 2: Nature and Architecture in Tainan

In the early morning, I went to the Sicao Green Tunnel for a guided tour. A boat cruised through the tree-lined waterways, the water's surface like a mirror, reflecting the scenery along the banks and the sky. Sailing through the green tunnel felt like entering a tranquil world, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Next, I visited Anping Tree House and Anping Old Street. The tree house, entwined with vines and old trees, was like a secret realm where time seemed to stand still. On the old street, I strolled along the stone-paved road, flanked by quaint shops, each step feeling like I was walking on a weighty history.

In the evening, I went to Yuguang Island, where the coastline looked exceptionally tranquil and beautiful under the setting sun. For dinner, I chose local seafood; every dish on the table exuded the flavor of the sea, making it an unforgettable experience.

Day 3: A Cultural Journey from Tainan to Kaohsiung

On the third day, I returned to Kaohsiung from Tainan. My first stop was the Chimei Museum, which houses a rich collection of artworks and antiques. Each exhibit was like a portal through time, leading me into another world.

In the afternoon, I visited the Ten Drums Cultural Park. The old warehouses in the park have been transformed into creative art spaces. Every drumbeat makes my heart race, as if I can feel the artist's passion and perseverance.

At night, I strolled along the light corridor along the coast of Amitabha Fishing Port, where the lights and waves echoed each other, creating a beautiful scene. Dinner was at my own expense at Taroko Department Store, where the diverse food replenished my tired body.

Day 4: Farewell and Returning Home

The last day was relaxed and carefree. I strolled aimlessly through the streets of Kaohsiung; every street had a different story, and every wall displayed a unique color. In the afternoon, I returned home according to my flight schedule, concluding my trip.

Every scene on this four-day journey was an independent and complete story, and every moment was full of meaning. During this trip, I found a gap in time, and perhaps it was there that I met another version of myself.
