[Foster Family Diary 1] The Foster Child's First Flight

The first flight for a foster child

This is the sixth foster child we've taken in.

After overcoming numerous difficulties, we finally succeeded in applying to take our foster child on a trip abroad for the first time, which was also his first time on an airplane. Before departure, he was already excitedly counting down the days. He said he wanted to bring a sketchbook to draw airplanes and clouds. He also said he wanted to buy a new dress so he could look pretty on the trip. When we arrived at the airport, he was very quiet.

Once on the plane, Cheng Cheng stared out the window without uttering a single word.

I asked her, "What's wrong? Are you happy?"

After a while, he spoke softly:

「原來天空係咁㗎。」

對於佢嚟講,呢個畫面好可能係第一次;寄養小朋友唔似你自己個仔女,佢哋唔一定會記得你係邊個,甚至,過多幾年,佢連你個樣都未必記得清楚。但我好希望,佢會記得,曾經喺佢讀幼稚園嘅某一年,

搭過一次飛機,

睇過天上面嘅雲。

可能係好微細嘅記憶,

但希望嗰一刻,畀過佢一種感覺:

原來世界好大。

我哋做寄養家庭,唔係因為咩崇高理想。下一篇會講番個原因,唔經唔覺,就湊到第六個。每個小朋友都唔一樣,有啲好黐身,有啲一聲唔響就走咗。而每一次離別,都會有少少唔捨得。

但我哋一直都相信,就算只係照顧一段時間,

都可以為佢人生某一段,留下一點點亮光。

就算最後唔記得我哋,

都記得,佢曾經坐過呢一次飛機,

見過天上面嘅雲。
