7-DAY ITINERARY
Actual transportation arrangements and tour times may be adjusted according to the departure date, local operating conditions, and traffic conditions.
On arrival at Nairobi Airport, you will be met by a tour representative and transferred to the Sarova Stanley Hotel or a similar hotel. This legendary building dates back to 1902, when its Victorian style made it Kenya's first luxury hotel. The Stanley soon became a byword for luxury and refinement, attracting hunting enthusiasts and colonial administrators. Its iconic status was further cemented by the stay of Nobel laureate Ernest Hemingway, whose short story “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” did much to popularise safari travel.

After breakfast, leave Nairobi early and head north towards Samburu, passing near Thika. Travel through magnificent scenery dotted with rushing mountain streams, with tea and coffee plantations in the shadow of Kenya's highest mountain and Africa's second-highest peak. Skirt around Mount Kenya, pass through the town of Nanyuki and finally reach Isiolo, a dusty town in the remote Northern Frontier District. From here it is only a short drive to Shaba National Reserve. Arrive at Sarova Shaba Lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge at sunset. Set among trees on a rocky bend of the Ewaso Ngiro River, Sarova Shaba offers a level of luxury rarely found in large African bush lodges. The lodge has 80 cabin-style rooms. Clear spring water flows throughout the grounds, creating a peaceful, tranquil atmosphere that attracts a wide variety of birds. Local Samburu villagers offer crocodile-feeding demonstrations and evening entertainment.

After breakfast, you will leave Shaba National Reserve for Lake Nakuru National Park. With thousands of flamingos along the shore, the lake often shimmers pink. Lunch is served on arrival. After lunch, set off on an afternoon game drive. Like the beautiful flamingos, black and white rhinos are carefully protected in this 188 sq km fully fenced park, where they have been given a new lease of life. There are more than 50 rhinos, and their number is still growing. Rothschild's giraffe is another rare animal to be seen here, and the park also has sizeable numbers of buffalo, leopards, zebras, elands, antelopes and lions. Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge sits at the heart of Kenya's most densely populated wetland national park, one of the country's six internationally protected wetland areas known as Ramsar sites. The lodge enjoys magnificent views of the lake and its millions of flamingos, pelicans and storks. The hotel also offers exciting activities and evening entertainment.
